How much notice or redundancy pay could apply?

Estimate the standard NES minimum notice period and redundancy-pay table using your continuous service. This deliberately stops short of a confident dollar result when an exclusion, small-business rule or industry-specific scheme may change the answer.

Important: this models the standard NES tables only. Awards, enterprise agreements, employment contracts, industry-specific redundancy schemes, daily-hire rules and other exceptions can require a different result. It does not calculate annual leave, long-service leave, final wages, tax on termination payments, unfair dismissal rights or whether a redundancy is genuine.

Notice uses full pay

Payment instead of notice is not just base salary

Fair Work says payment in lieu of the minimum notice period must equal what the employee would have been paid if they worked that period. The full pay rate can include incentive payments and bonuses, loadings, monetary allowances, overtime, penalty rates and other separately identifiable amounts.

Redundancy uses base pay

The redundancy table uses ordinary-hours base pay

Fair Work's standard NES redundancy amount is based on continuous service and the employee's base rate for ordinary hours. Bonuses, loadings, monetary allowances, overtime and penalty rates are excluded from that base-rate definition.

Small business & special schemes

Do not assume “under 15 employees” always means zero

Most employees of a small-business employer are excluded from the standard NES redundancy entitlement. Fair Work also warns that an award or enterprise agreement can contain different redundancy provisions, including industry-specific schemes, so this calculator switches to “check required” instead of asserting zero.
