Pay looks wrong, work is unsafe, or you were injured?

Start with the problem you actually have. Pay and award issues usually go to Fair Work. Safety incidents and workers compensation use state and territory systems, so the right contact depends on where you work.

Injured or unsafe work

Safety and workers compensation are separate from pay disputes

Report an injury to your employer as soon as practical and get medical treatment when needed. Serious or dangerous incidents can also have immediate regulator-notification requirements. Workers compensation claims are handled differently in each state and territory.

1. Make the situation safeUse emergency services first if required. Report workplace hazards or serious incidents to the safety regulator for your state or territory.
2. Record the injuryTell the employer, keep medical certificates/reports, note when and how it happened, and keep claim/insurer correspondence.
3. Use the state route belowSafety regulator and workers-compensation contacts are not always the same organisation.
